Francisco Acuña, CRU Group Senior Consultant, stated during the main event of Heading to PERUMIN.

With the positive effect seen through vaccination campaigns around the world, added to some fiscal stimuli that have been given by different governments, the wave due to the Delta variant may not be so drastic and we would not have the impact of last year, said Francisco Acuña, Senior Consultant at CRU Group.

"There is a tendency towards consuming more commodities, based on the various fiscal stimuli that have been introduced (...) Sometimes it is difficult for us to realize the situation we are in because we haven’t seen a health and economic crisis like this since, say, the Second World War", he explained.

Thus, in accordance with a new stage at a global level, the green economy will play a fundamental role in the copper market, since by 2025 this sector will push the demand for the red metal. "As a result of the post-covid crisis, nations will focus on an ESG agenda."

At another point, Francisco Acuña noted that Peru is positioned as one of the most competitive countries in the world in the mining market. "In this sense, the development of new projects is needed and this is the challenge that Peru as a country faces, just like Chile," he concluded.

This September 21 was the inauguration of the central event of Heading to PERUMIN - Bicentennial Edition, organized by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP), which will bring together more than 50 national and international speakers to address the main challenges of the Peruvian mining industry.
