Ross Carroll, MMG's CFO, emphasized that one of the priorities of this mining company in the coming months will be to advance in the development of Chalcobamba, one of the pits that along with Ferrobamba and Sulfobamba are part of the Las Bambas mine located in Apurímac.

"We are going to work with the new Government to advance in the development of the Chalcobamba pit, which will provide greater economic contributions to the Apurímac region," said the senior executive.

On the first day of the central event of Heading to PERUMIN - Bicentennial Edition entitled "Competitive and sustainable proposals for the development of Peru", the executive also highlighted that they will focus on resolving possible changes in the tax framework.

"The plan is to continue to improve the efficiency of our operations and maintain Las Bambas as a world-class asset," commented Carroll.

In Heading to PERUMIN, MMG's CFO explained that the company's average workforce is around 8,000 people and - according to their own analysis - they are also responsible for another 50,000 indirect jobs.

"It is important to note that almost half of our workforce is from Apurímac and Cusco," said Ross Carroll.

Contributions from Las Bambas

Regarding the economic contributions, he said that from 2016 to 2020 the mining company has been responsible for 1% of our Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and 8% of Peru's mining exports.

"What is more important, we have been responsible for 72% of the Gross Value Added of Apurímac, which is an approximation of the GDP," he said.

Ross Carrol also remarked that Las Bambas, between January 2016 and July this year, contributed S/ 1.36 billion to the Apurímac region in royalties, which were distributed among the Apurímac regional government, municipalities and universities.

Similarly, he indicated that the annual GDP of Apurímac increased to an average of S/ 7,000 million between 2016-2020; while between 2007-2015 it was S/ 2,000 million.

Finally, he recalled that MMG has allocated about S/ 1,500 million in social programs.
