Arequipa, FEBRUARY 24 2022 PERUMIN 35: The Peru Mining Convention will take place in September in a live-event format

  • Recognized as one of most relevant mining encounters worldwide, PERUMIN 35 will be held in the Cerro Juli Convention Center, in Arequipa, from the 26th to the 30th of September.

 

PERUMIN 35, the mining convention of Peru and one of the most important in the world will take place in a live-event format from the 26th to the 30th of September, at the Cerro Juli Convention Center, in the city of Arequipa, as announced in press conference by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) organizer of PERUMIN and the Executive Committee of PERUMIN 35, headed by the economist Claudia Cooper.

The slogan of PERUMIN 35 is “Building together a greater Peru” and it seeks to promote a constructive and open dialogue to highlight the relevance of the mining industry in the development of the country and optimize its impact on the well-being of the population.

“The Mining Convention has become a key meeting point between authorities, the civil society, the communities, and the business people, the academia, and the workers and technicians of national and international mining, where we seek agreements and consensus for the benefit of the country”, indicated Claudia Cooper, underscoring the relevance of the event.

The Mining Convention presents three basic work areas: the Mining Summit, the main space for debate and analysis of matters of interest for the country and for the sector; the Technology, Innovation and Sustainability Forum (TIS Forum) where professionals and specialists will get together to analyze and debate on different aspects concerning the mining industry; and EXTEMIN, the Technological and Mining Exhibition Fair, with capacity for more than 1,400 stands.

In addition, this edition of PERUMIN 35 will take up again the staging of the International Meeting where different countries with important mining activity will present sustainable development proposals for the industry and will share successful practices in their respective fields. To date, the delegations that have already confirmed their participation are Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, Sweden and Germany.

“PERUMIN is quite an event for the country and, especially, for the city of Arequipa, where it is possible to promote trade and tourism. We are very excited to work in this new edition, which, we believe will showcase the potential of Peruvian mining to the world and will enable the discussion and dissemination of knowledge on modern and sustainable mining and the reaching of consensus for the development of our industry”, stated Víctor Gobitz, President of the IIMP.

Within the framework of PERUMIN 35, there will be presentations of the most relevant works of PERUMIN Inspira, a program for the recognition of social enterprises; PERUMIN Hub, a program of open and collaborative innovation of the mining sector; as well as the projects aspiring to the National Mining Award, which will be granted during the closing ceremony.

The IIMP and the Executive Committee of PERUMIN 35  have announced that the event will have a zero-carbon footprint and there will be transmissions of the conferences in the quechua language. There will also be a program of activities dedicated to analyzing the role of women in the mining industry, as well as work agendas dedicated to the energy sector.

In addition to the above, the organizers have advanced that the event will be held with the biosafety protocols that a meeting of these characteristics deserves, considering its high level of attendance, which is around 50,000 people per edition.
