LIMA, SEPTEMBER 8 2021 Julio Velarde, president of the BCR, will participate as a lecturer at the Heading to PERUMIN - Bicentennial Edition.

The president of the Central Reserve Bank, Julio Velarde, will participate as a lecturer in the program Heading to PERUMIN - Bicentennial Edition, a space for open and decentralized debate organized by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP), which will take place virtually on September 20 to 24.

This was reported by the organizers of the event, who said that the head of the BCR confirmed his presence for the first day of the event, where he will give a presentation on "Mining and long-term development", corresponding to the block "Peruvian mining in the medium and long term ”.

Julio Velarde has been Chairman of the Board of the BCR since 2006. He has received numerous international awards for his management, including distinctions such as Central Banker of the Year 2015 (Global and Americas) and Central Banker of the Year 2020 for the Americas , awarded by the international magazine The Banker, of the Financial Times publishing group.

Velarde will participate together with other prominent representatives of the public and private sectors, academia and international organizations such as the Mining Council of Australia, Mining Association of Canada, International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM), World Bank, CEPLAN, International Financial Cooperation ( IFC) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

Heading to PERUMIN is an initiative of the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) and the Executive Committee of PERUMIN 35. It is the prelude to the 35th edition of the traditional Mining Convention, which will take place in 2022.

Its activities include presentations and discussion panels on the issues that set the national agenda, such as long-term mining policy, taxation, development of new mining projects and their impact on the regions, sustainability and the value chain in mining, among others.
