Lima, June 20th, 2019.- The applications of the First Award focused exclusively on Social Entrepreneurs with a positive impact on Peruvian Andes, Perumin Inspira, are opened! The Institute of Mining Engineers of Peru (IIMP), the International Potato Center (CIP) and Kunan, Peruvian Social Entrepreneurship Platform, have come together to strengthen the role of the Extractive Industry as a strengthening player of social enterprises in the rural areas of the country, and start building the first database of social enterprises with an impact on high Andean areas. The objective? Start linking them with the Extractive Industry for the search for alliances focused on meeting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The Award has two categories: 1) Innovative Ideas and 2) Active Social Entrepreneurships. To apply, your initiative or prototype must contribute to at least one of the following four United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 2 Zero Hunger, SDG 3 Health and Wellness, SDG 6 Clean Water and Sanitation, and SDG 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth.

The Technical Evaluation Committee, formed by representatives of the United Nations, Ministries, Incubators and Researchers of different specialties, will select 5 finalists per category, who will be invited to the Mining Convention in Arequipa during the month of September. They will go through a process of preparation for the final presentation before a jury and participants of PERUMIN.

The winners of the different categories will receive technical support from NESsT, and the opportunity to travel to Santiago de Chile for a workshop with AGORA Partnerships, Accelerator based in the United States. In addition, the International Potato Center will give a special award to social entrepreneurship that uses native potatoes as part of its business model and impact. The winner will be invited to the world's largest international horticulture event, which has been held in Beijing, China since the beginning of May 2019!
