PERUMIN invests 3.2 million soles in improving UNSA infrastructure

Funds were mainly allocated in construction of a perimeter fence in the campus of Universidad Nacional de San Agustín (UNSA), venue of this important mining event.

During his visit to the White City of Arequipa to review the progress made in implementation and preparation works for PERUMIN 33 Mining Convention, Eng. Gustavo Luyo, general manager of the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) pointed out they have invested 3.2 million soles on revamping the venue of this important event that will host several delegations from Peru and the rest of the world.

He explained the investment is mainly allocated in the construction of a perimeter fence in the engineering area of Universidad Nacional de San Agustín (UNSA). “This construction will create two new accesses in Independencia and Paucarpata avenues. It will be 550 meters long according to specifications and licenses obtained by the university. We are in the middle of the work now and expect to complete it on time for PERUMIN”, he said.

The organization of this event also involves employment generation. Eng. Gustavo Luyo estimates about 15,000 people are directly or indirectly involved in all the works being made for a year now to implement PERUMIN, such as creation of studies, assembly of the fair, among others.

He pointed out that PERUMIN 33 Mining Convention, one of the most important meeting in the world, will be held from September 18 to 22 at UNSA and will have 7 academic-business meetings intended to exchange knowledge, technical and technological works.

“These meetings gather about 4,000 people directly, and we also have good expectations for the Mining Technological Fair (EXTEMIN) which will have over 1,650 stands composed of 15 international delegations and about 1,000 suppliers of the industry, where we expect to have about 100,000 visitors” said Eng. Gustavo Luyo.

Finally, he pointed out that the National Mining Award, the most important award in this industry, will be given during the event.
