PERUMIN 33: MORE THAN 170 TECHNICAL PAPERS COMPETE FOR THE NATIONAL MINING AWARD.
The pre-selection was carried out from 370 papers. This top prize awarded by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) will be delivered within the framework of PERUMIN 33 Mining Convention.
With a remarkable increase of papers, regarding the prior edition, on February 20th the Call for Papers 2017 ended. This event gathers the main researchers, professionals and academia members of the mining industry and related sectors that compete to win the prestigious National Mining Award that will be granted during PERUMIN 33 Mining Convention.
The Organizing Committee of the Technology and Innovation Meeting, chaired by Miguel Cardozo, reported that 370 papers in total were received; in other words, 40% more than in the prior edition when 255 papers participated. 85% of them (315) are researches carried out by Peruvian professionals working in the main mining companies of the country.
In the same manner, the countries with more papers in this edition are Chile (20), United States (11), Germany (5) and Brazil (5). The categories with the largest number of papers were Mining Operations (98), Mining Research and Technology (86) and Ore Processing (68), followed by Environmental Management (43%), Geology and Explorations (34%), Social Management (28%) and Mining Economics (10).
The organizers stated that, during this first stage more than 170 authors were pre-selected, which must present their complete papers before May 15 for the corresponding assessment by the qualifying jury. During the second state, the papers to be included in the lectures program of the Technology and Innovation Meeting or at the exclusive posters area will be selected.
It is worth mentioning that the Organizing Committee of the Technology and Innovation Meeting started on April 17 the preparation workshops for the authors of technical papers to improve the quality of their presentations, in format and content and to offer a better presentation to the public.
The Technology and Innovation Meeting is an exchange and high-level knowledge opportunity; national and foreign experts present the latest scientific studies and technological progress applied to different mining areas of knowledge.
- The exclusive posters area will be an opportunity to a larger number of professionals to perfect their research and to present their progress during the days of the event.
- The first preparatory workshop was delivered by Flora Miyagui, GERENS specialist who guided the participants in the preparation and writing of technical papers.
